Microsoft SATVs - Software Assurance Training Vouchers

Ensure Your SATVs Don’t Expire by Working with CompuCom and Global Knowledge to Redeem

In a tough economy training is often the first thing to get cut out of budgets. Ensure that your company gets full value out of its Software Assurance (SA) investment by working with CompuCom to redeem your Software Assurance Training Vouchers (SATVs). The Microsoft Software Assurance Training Voucher (SATV) benefit, which is available to qualified Microsoft software licensing subscription holders, assists organizations of all sizes so that they can achieve greater efficiency through classroom training.

If you are unsure whether or not your organization has accumulated any Training Vouchers through Software Assurance, you will need to check with the person at your company who is responsible for managing your organization’s Microsoft Licensing Agreements and has access to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Services (MVLS) site. They will be able to tell you how many vouchers your organization has. Desktop Deployment Planning Services (DDPS) days can also be exchanged for additional Training Vouchers. Typically it takes one voucher per training day. We recommend sitting down with a training consultant to review your organization’s current training needs and objectives. You can also use SATVs for more customized onsite training. This is sometimes a better fit depending on your organization’s unique needs.

SATV Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I know how many training vouchers were awarded to my organization?
A. The benefits administrator must login to the MVLS site - https://licensing.microsoft.com/eLicense/L1033/Default.asp - choose the specific agreement, then click "Software Assurance Benefits" in the left menu bar, then find the Training Vouchers in the benefit summary and click the hyperlink.

Q. I have a user who needs 4 vouchers for a class.  Where do I find the physical vouchers?

A. After the benefits administrator locates the Training Vouchers benefit on the MVLS site, they must activate individual vouchers and email them to the specific users.  The MVLS site - https://licensing.microsoft.com/eLicense/L1033/Default.asp - walks you step by step through the process.

Q.  My user had 3 vouchers reserved for an Exchange Class, but now they cannot attend because of scheduling conflicts.  What can I do?
A. After the vouchers have been activated and assigned, they can be revoked within 180 days if the user cannot attend the course.

Q. How much is each voucher worth?
A. Microsoft does not assign specific dollar amounts to the SA benefits, but Gartner reports estimate that each training voucher is worth approx $500 US.

Q. I'm the SA Benefits Administrator and I need a report on who has used vouchers and how many they have used?  Where can I find this?
A. https://licensing.microsoft.com/eLicense/L1033/Default.asp This can be found on the MVLS site under the SA benefits section.  Click on the specific benefit to find user reports.

Q. Are my vouchers only good for lessons at the training facility, or can I use them on site at my location?
A. Your designated training center (i.e. Global Knowledge) may be able to arrange lessons at your location depending on the class size and number of vouchers available.

Q. How long are training vouchers valid?
A. The vouchers will be available for the entire term of your agreement or SAM subscription, but once a voucher is activated and assigned to a specific user, it will expire after 180 days.  An expiration date will be printed on the physical voucher.

Q. If I activate, assign, and reserve training vouchers right before my agreement ends, will the vouchers expire with the agreement?
A. As long as the voucher has been activated and assigned to a specific user, and the course has been reserved with a training partner PRIOR to the agreement end date, then it will be valid for 180 days (regardless of the agreement expiration date or SAM subscription end date).
